Mixed Martial Arts or MMA is a relatively modern type of full contact competition. MMA became popular with the rise of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) of the early 1990s, which incorporates techniques from different martial arts.

The fighters avail themselves of both the impact and kick techniques of boxing, kick boxing, Thai boxing and karate, as well as the ground combat and wrestling techniques like Grappling and Judo as well as other martial art techniques.
